Sony digital game lawsuit reaches $7.8m preliminary settlement

A Northern District of California judge preliminarily approved the deal on 8 April for US PlayStation Network purchases made between 1 April 2019 and 31 December 2023.
The class action, filed in 2023, alleged Sony monopolised digital sales by blocking third-party game distribution on PlayStation, with reimbursements covering selected titles including No Man's Sky and The Last of Us Remastered.
Saveri Law Firm announced the settlement on 29 April, and eligible players could receive payments from the roughly $7.85 million fund if the agreement wins final approval.
