The chains said the programme, piloted in Austin in 2024, has expanded to 150 stores nationwide, with Eugene the first Oregon location to begin adding the tags.
Both companies denied using surge or dynamic pricing, saying staff-led updates are typically made outside shopping hours and match online, advertised and checkout prices.
The rollout comes amid scrutiny from lawmakers, while Kroger plans similar tags for Fred Meyer and Senator Jeff Merkley backs a bill to curb grocery price gouging.
