The 2026 race keeps the same total purse for a third straight year, with Churchill Downs paying $1 million for second and $500,000 for third.
Of the winner's share, 80% goes to the owner, while the trainer and jockey each receive 10%, with the jockey then splitting earnings with an agent and valet.
The winning owner also gets a 22-inch, 14-karat gold Kentucky Derby Trophy, while the trainer, jockey and breeder receive half-sized silver replicas.
