Hope Mills police said officers responded around 12:15-12:20 a.m. Saturday, found the teenager with gunshot wounds and opened a homicide investigation after she died in hospital.
Authorities have not released her name, identified a suspect or motive, or made any arrests, and are asking witnesses or anyone with information to contact Detective Labretta McBryde.
