In Mesa County, Colorado, BIC says it now hosts 165-plus startups on a 47-acre campus and assists more than 1,000 entrepreneurs and small businesses each year.
The centre says it has launched 2,284 companies, with 86% still operating after five years, generating $357 million in direct revenue and creating or retaining more than 14,000 jobs.
Founded after Exxon's 1982 withdrawal devastated western Colorado, BIC now also administers enterprise-zone incentives, loans and mentoring that local leaders say helped diversify the region's economy.
