The blaze broke out around 2am Saturday, closing the corridor between Newcombe Road and Chris Street as Raleigh Fire Department crews and investigators remained on scene into the morning.
Authorities had not determined the cause or whether any property was damaged, while drivers were warned to expect delays in southeast Raleigh until crews cleared the area.
