Melania Trump added the South Lawn hive before the four-day US visit ended, joining two hives that can host about 70,000 bees and yield 225 pounds annually.
The White House said the new hive should add about 30 pounds of honey a year for kitchens, official gifts and donations to local food kitchens.
Honey featured in state dinner dessert for about 130 guests, while the bees also support the White House Kitchen Garden, Flower Cutting Garden and vegetation across the National Mall.
