Kelvin Manning becomes acting director of NASA Kennedy Space Center

The change took effect Friday in Florida as director Janet Petro retired after leading Kennedy and serving as NASA acting administrator from January to July 2025.
NASA said Manning brings more than 32 years of leadership and technical experience and previously served as the center’s deputy director.
Petro, Kennedy’s 11th director, helped transform the site into a multi-user spaceport by working with the FAA and US Air Force to support commercial launches.
