Alonso said in New York the Mets made no offer before his five-year, $155 million Baltimore deal in December, and he spoke only with manager Carlos Mendoza and former teammates.
The first baseman said he was not surprised, as Baltimore negotiations were progressing, while New York later replaced him with Jorge Polanco on a two-year, $40 million contract.
Alonso left as the Mets' all-time home run leader with 264 homers; New York has started 10-21, while he entered Friday batting .198 before homering in a 7-2 loss to the Yankees.
