Livingston County Farmers’ Market opens in Smithland

The inaugural event at the Livingston County Courthouse drew more than 100 visitors and 28 vendors after 18 months of planning.
Organisers and residents said the market should improve access to fresh local produce, meat and baked goods, especially for older people and others facing costly trips to grocery stores.
The every-other-Friday market runs from 3pm to 7pm until mid-October, while also giving small businesses and local high school students opportunities to sell products and build community ties.
