The home-plate umpire was struck in the bottom of the second inning at Sewell-Thomas Stadium in Tuscaloosa after Alabama's Brennan Holt fouled off a 1-0 pitch.
Trainers from both teams treated Kennedy on the field before he walked off under his own power and another umpire took over behind the plate.
Alabama led 3-0 when play stopped and went on to beat Vanderbilt 5-0, with coach Rob Vaughn saying trainers indicated Kennedy was expected to be OK.
