The decline ended a five-day winning streak and left the stock 4.47% below its 52-week high of $258.43 reached on 30 March.
Valero lagged Exxon Mobil, Chevron and ConocoPhillips, while trading volume of 2.5 million shares was 1.4 million below its 50-day average.
