San Diego County unemployment rate falls to 4.3% as nonfarm jobs rise

March payrolls increased by 8,100 to 1,573,400, while February's jobless rate was revised to 4.5%; California's rate was 5.2% and the national rate 4.3%.
Private education and health services led monthly gains with 3,300 jobs, while government added 2,800 and leisure and hospitality 2,000; trade, transportation, utilities and other services lost 800.
From March 2025, nonfarm employment rose 15,300 and farm jobs fell 200. Health care and social assistance drove annual growth, while government posted the biggest decline, down 7,700 jobs.
