The Venetoulis Institute offered jobs to about half the newsroom before taking over on Monday, while president Tracey DeAngelo and executive editor Stan Wischnowski stay on.
Many employees said they received no communication, and departing journalists include longtime music reporter Scott Mervis, high school sports reporter Steve Rotstein and Pitt athletics reporter Abby Schnable.
The new owner said the restructuring is meant to build a team for the paper's next chapter and position the Post-Gazette for long-term success.
