On The Sports Gossip Show, Welch attacked the ESPN analyst over Burke’s 2025 Western Conference Finals remark that Oklahoma City Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was a “free throw merchant.”
The criticism stemmed from Burke’s Game 1 exchange with Mike Breen, after Gilgeous-Alexander reached the line seven times in the first four and a half minutes.
The report says Gilgeous-Alexander averaged 12.3 free-throw attempts per game in the 2026 playoffs, after 9.9 in the 2025 postseason and 8.8 in the 2024-25 regular season.
