Research finds chronotype-matched exercise nearly doubles blood pressure reduction

In a 12-week trial of more than 130 adults aged 40 to 60 with cardiovascular risk factors, matched exercisers cut systolic pressure by 10.8 mm Hg versus 5.5.
Among participants with hypertension, reductions were 13.6 mm Hg against 7.1, while sleep quality, aerobic fitness, heart rate variability, fasting glucose and LDL cholesterol also improved more.
Morning types saw somewhat larger gains than night owls, and researchers said “chrono-exercise” could offer personalised, drug-free heart prevention, though larger, more diverse studies are still needed.
