A Weibo leaker said Apple's iPhone Air logged barely 700,000 activations, while one unnamed Chinese rival device reached only 50,000 despite price cuts.
The report says Xiaomi halted a planned rival, Vivo stopped thin-phone work in its S series, and Samsung cancelled the Galaxy S26 Edge after weak Galaxy S25 Edge sales.
Apple is still expected to release iPhone Air 2 in spring 2027, with reports pointing to lower pricing, a second rear camera, bigger battery and a thinner Face ID module.
