In Lansing, Senate Bill 860 includes a historic $235 million for literacy and an extra $300 million for school safety and mental health.
The plan raises per-pupil funding, introduces a weighted formula for more predictable district finances, and provides educator bonuses to help recruit and retain teachers.
It also maintains free school meals and strengthens scholarships for trades and college. The bill follows passage of Senate Bill 878 and now goes to the House.
