The Emmy-winning host of NBC New York's Open House and New York Live revealed the news on air on 30 April, saying she will undergo treatment and surgery.
Gore said she was scared and caught off guard, despite a high risk because both her mother and sister had breast cancer.
She said the cancer was caught early, thanked doctors, family and colleagues for support, and told viewers she would rest, heal and return "better than ever".
