The Green Party leader had reposted an X message about officers arresting the suspect in the Golders Green attack, drawing criticism from Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley.
In a Friday statement, Polanski said he had shared the tweet in haste and accepted social media was not the right forum for judging police actions in such tense circumstances.
He said police responses should be examined later in appropriate forums and added he had invited Rowley to discuss the arrest response and wider issues raised in the commissioner's letter.
