At Blue Mounds, Wisconsin, Big Dog Ranch Rescue and the Center for a Humane Economy said the price was well under $1m and does not cover all dogs remaining.
Several hundred beagles are expected to be adopted in Wisconsin, while more than 1,000 will go to other states; the Dane County Humane Society will vaccinate and care for 500.
Ridglan, which breeds dogs for research, must surrender its state breeder licence by 1 July after a settlement over cruelty allegations, while activists and officials remain in legal disputes over recent raids.
