Penn Engineering researchers identify GLP-1 symptoms from Reddit posts

The Nature Health study analysed more than 400,000 posts from nearly 70,000 Reddit users over more than five years, flagging irregular menstrual cycles, chills and hot flashes.
Researchers said known effects such as nausea helped validate the method, while senior author Sharath Chandra Guntuku said the underreported symptoms could guide clinicians' attention.
The team stressed the findings do not prove GLP-1 drugs cause the symptoms, but said nearly 4% of users reported menstrual irregularities, suggesting a signal for further study.
