Graham Platner skips Democratic Senate primary debates after Janet Mills exits

Mills ended her campaign on Thursday, leaving Platner the overwhelming favourite against only long-shot Democrat David Costello and setting up a likely November contest with Republican Senator Susan Collins.
At Augusta and Lewiston events, Platner urged Mills supporters to unite behind defeating Collins as Democratic lawmakers, Senate Majority PAC, Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand backed him as presumptive nominee.
Mills stopped short of endorsing Platner immediately, while Republicans intensified attacks on him and debate plans became uncertain after Mills' withdrawal and Platner's absence from the remaining primary forums.
