A survey of 423 teachers found severe stress as some pupils face up to 26 hours of supervised non-examined assessments worth up to 40% of grades.
Cardiff head teachers urged WJEC and Qualifications Wales to act, saying marking, moderation and administration are overwhelming staff, harming wellbeing and adding costs for schools.
Pupils and parents also reported constant pressure and confusion, while unions called for an urgent review or scrapping NEAs; regulators said they were aware of concerns and offering support.
