Chelan County PUD commissioners boost supported employment programme funding

The budget rises to $600,000 from $140,000 for temporary paid roles for hard-to-hire candidates in Wenatchee and across Chelan County PUD operations.
The Supported Employment and Job Readiness initiative places participants in district jobs, with duties including housekeeping, restocking and switchboard work at the service centre.
The utility says the programme is financed through its Public Power Benefit fund, backed by surplus wholesale power sales that also help reduce debt and support community reinvestment.
