The award was presented at the Academy’s Margaret Herrick Library a day after her 85th birthday, becoming only the second such coin ever bestowed after Bob Hope in 1990.
USO leaders honoured her decades of support, including three tours for American service members, two in Vietnam, where she said she still remembers troops she met and veterans she later visited.
The ceremony coincided with the USO’s 85th anniversary in 2026 and drew guests including Linda Hope, USO CEO Michael Linnington and Barbara Barrett of the USO Board of Governors.
