Broadlinc expands fiber and fixed wireless internet in rural Spokane County

Working with the Washington State Broadband Office and local partners, Broadlinc aims to reach thousands more homes, with some households due to be connected by year-end.
Executive director Ariane Schmidt said Spokane County had more than 24,000 underserved addresses in 2024, ranking fifth nationally, while mixed technologies are being used because terrain makes fiber impractical in some areas.
Broadlinc, formed in 2022, says public-private support is vital to make rural networks sustainable and improve access to remote learning, telehealth, business tools and community resilience.
