Shares closed at $6,315.87 on Thursday as the S&P 500 gained 1.02% to 7,209.01 and the Dow rose 1.62% to 49,652.14.
NVR outperformed D.R. Horton, which rose 1.46%, but trailed Lennar Class A's 1.79% gain and Lennar Class B's 2.56% increase.
The stock remains 26.72% below its 52-week high of $8,618.28 reached on 5 September, while trading volume of 23,965 was slightly below its 50-day average.
