  • In New Hampshire, the overnight peak on 5-6 May 2026 may be muted by a nearly full moon and mostly cloudy skies with a 30% chance of showers.
  • NASA says the meteors are fast and bright, travelling about 148,000mph, and can produce fireballs with glowing trains visible for seconds or minutes before dawn.
  • The shower, created by Halley's Comet around 390 B.C., last had an outburst in 2024 and is not expected to do so again until 2046.
