Israeli forces in southern Lebanon and northern Israel are using nets to shield buildings and vehicles after weeks of attacks, former national security adviser Eyal Hulata said.
The drones are guided by thin fibre-optic cables rather than radio signals, making them largely immune to Israeli communications and GPS jamming and harder to detect because they can fly low and fast.
Israeli and Western officials said the military was not fully prepared for the tactic, though not surprised by it; the technology has already been used extensively in the war in Ukraine.
