The stock closed at $129.75 on Thursday as the S&P 500 gained 1.02% to 7,209.01 and the Dow rose 1.62% to 49,652.14.
It was Target's second straight daily gain and left the shares 2.52% below their 52-week high of $133.10 reached on 21 April.
Target outpaced Amazon's 0.77% rise but lagged Walmart's 3.06% and Costco's 1.59% gains, while trading volume of 5.4 million stayed below its 50-day average.
