Venice Biennale international jury resigns over exclusion policy

The five-member panel quit on 30 April, days before the 61st edition opens on 9 May, in a statement signed by president Solange Oliveira Farkas and all jurors.
They said they were acting in line with a 22 April statement backing exclusion from Golden and Silver Lion competition of countries whose leaders face ICC crimes-against-humanity charges, effectively Russia and Israel.
The resignation deepens a dispute over participation and awards at the exhibition, with organisers later moving the award ceremony to 22 November amid criticism over Russia's return and pressure over funding.
