Aiyuk has cut off contact with San Francisco, wants Washington, and may not be released before a 1 September roster bonus deadline.
The Commanders are reportedly waiting for the 49ers to cut the receiver rather than surrender a late 2027 or 2028 draft pick, while San Francisco stays firm.
Any move would also require reworking Aiyuk's contract. He has not played since Week 7 of the 2024 season after a serious knee injury, despite reports he is fit.
