Executive director Matt Floca told a federal judge the Washington institution faces a failed roof, collapsing concrete and water in electrical vaults that could trigger an explosion.
His testimony came as the judge considers two lawsuits that have exposed detailed aspects of the Kennedy Center's operations and the urgency of major repairs.
Floca said concrete has been buttressed to stop it crushing workers, underscoring safety risks and the scale of work needed to stabilise the performing arts venue.
