Thurston County Judge Christine Schaller halted Section 9 and a few other provisions hours before the law was due to take effect on 30 April.
The four eastern Washington sheriffs said the measure let the Criminal Justice Training Commission remove elected sheriffs over social media posts, associations and qualifications they argued were unconstitutional.
