Hiro Murai renews first-look deal with FX Networks

The renewal runs through his Chum Films banner, launched in February 2025 with producing partner Carver Karaszewski, as Murai also promotes Apple TV's 10-episode horror-comedy Widow's Bay.
Murai said he stayed with the Disney-owned network because it is artist-forward and helped shape his television career, while FX praised his intimate, culturally resonant storytelling.
Best known for The Bear and Atlanta, Murai said he is also developing projects including grounded sci-fi and an experimental half-hour comedy in a turbulent TV industry.
