Executive chairman Mayo Schmidt said the northwest Brazil mine could produce 2.4 million tonnes annually, with Franco-Nevada taking a $150 million royalty option and first output targeted for 2030.
The company says 91% of output is already committed through long-term deals with Keytrade, Kimia Agro Solutions and Amaggi, potentially covering 17% of Brazil's potash demand.
Brazil imports 98% of its potash despite accounting for 22% of global demand, and the $2.5 billion project is pitched as a lower-cost domestic supply hedge against geopolitical and logistics disruptions.
