FTSE 100 closes up 1.62% as United Utilities leads gains

  • The index ended at 10,378.82 on Thursday, while Rolls-Royce rose 7.59%, Severn Trent 7.29%, Endeavour Mining 6.54% and Standard Chartered 4.07%.
  • Whitbread was the biggest faller, down 6.33%, followed by DCC, Weir Group, Autotrader and Entain. Sterling gained 0.81% against the dollar and 0.29% versus the euro.
  • Brent crude slipped 0.8% to $109.61, while the 10-year gilt yield fell 1.810 basis points to 5.058%. Earlier, Unilever also outperformed the rising market, gaining 1.96%.
