Innlandet County said more than 3,150 coins have now been recovered near Rena after two private citizens first found 19 silver coins on 10 April.
University of Oslo experts said most coins came from England and Germany, with others from Denmark and Norway, and were minted under rulers including Cnut the Great, Ethelred II, Otto III and Harald Hardrada.
Officials said the late-10th- to early-11th-century hoard could illuminate Norway's economy during political upheaval and foreign wealth inflows, while the search continues and the find has stirred excitement among archaeologists.
