Safaricom raises home fibre speeds without changing prices in Kenya

Kenya’s biggest telco lifted its KES 3,000 plan to 40 Mbps from 15, and upgraded mid-tier packages to 60 Mbps and 150 Mbps.
The move targets lower and mid-market households as Airtel Kenya and newer entrants such as Savanna Fibre undercut Safaricom on price per Mbps.
Safaricom holds 34.9% of Kenya’s fixed internet market, ahead of Jamii Telecommunications and Wananchi, but stronger speeds will need consistent peak-time performance to deter switching.
