In Cleveland, Dennis Schroder scored 11 of his 19 points in the fourth quarter as the Cavs rallied from 74-67 down at half-time and 103-100 entering the final period.
Schroder, acquired in February, said he urged Cleveland to play through Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen, while the Cavs cut second-half turnovers and outscored Toronto 25-17 in the fourth.
It was Cleveland's first playoff win after trailing to start the fourth since 2018, and Game 6 on Friday in Toronto gives the Cavs a chance to clinch the series.
