The Democratic senators also asked Tether for records on a loan to a trust benefiting Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick's children.
In a Wednesday letter, they said the arrangement raised serious questions about Lutnick's relationship with Tether and whether the company could influence his policy decisions.
The senators said they wanted to ensure Tether had not sought to bribe Lutnick or otherwise exert control, following Bloomberg's March report on the loan.
