The 38-year-old co-founder said the Bengaluru startup is near a major round led by Bessemer, with Nvidia, Amazon and others, after February launches of 30B and 105B models.
Sarvam plans bigger data and agentic models, more corporate and government clients, and custom locally deployed systems; Kumar said it is also working with India’s armed forces.
He said Sarvam aims to widen AI use beyond the 100 million Indians using discounted global tools, while repaying government investment and staying privately owned to support future fundraising.
