Judge Elizabeth Hill denies Scott Peterson bid to present new evidence

In San Mateo, Hill rejected a 2025 habeas petition backed by the Los Angeles Innocence Project, which said new scientific evidence could exonerate Peterson, 53.
The judge ruled the claims were procedurally barred or lacked merit, and Peterson's lawyers said they will appeal to a higher court.
Peterson was convicted in 2004 of murdering Laci Peterson and their unborn son; his death sentence was overturned in 2020, and he now serves life without parole.
