Speaking at WIRED Health in London on 16 April, the LinkedIn cofounder said frontier models from firms such as OpenAI and Anthropic should support clinical decisions.
He argued AI could reduce misdiagnosis, help triage patients on smartphones and ease pressure on the UK's NHS, which faces long waiting lists and shortages of family doctors.
Hoffman, whose Manas AI is developing cancer drug-discovery tools with Siddhartha Mukherjee, also wants regulators such as the FDA to use AI more, despite studies warning medical chatbots can be inaccurate.
