Matabiswana, 26, denies murdering 36-year-old Harden, who died after a violent assault on Newchurch Road, Bacup, Lancashire, on 1 November 2025.
Prosecutors allege Matabiswana beat and stamped on Harden following a Halloween party, causing fatal brain injuries. Matabiswana was arrested at Manchester Airport while attempting to leave the UK two days later.
The court heard both men were intoxicated and did not know each other prior to the party. Matabiswana claims self-defence, while his girlfriend Nicola Chadwick is no longer facing charges. The trial at Preston Crown Court continues.
