Wilson led Lindsey Boylan 43% to 25% after one round of ranked-choice voting, with over 93% of ballots counted in Manhattan's West Side district.
Wilson, endorsed by four predecessors and several political clubs, overcame Boylan's name recognition and significant outside spending. Boylan conceded and congratulated Wilson, who will be sworn in after results are ratified.
The election, triggered by Erik Bottcher's move to the state Senate, saw unusually high turnout and became a proxy battle between democratic socialists and the Democratic establishment. Wilson must still win the June primary and November general election.
