Nigeria crude oil production reaches five-year high of 1.71 million barrels per day

NNPC reports that between April 2025 and April 2026, production hit 1.71 million bpd, supported by infrastructure upgrades and sustained gas output of 7.5 billion standard cubic feet per day.
Key projects, such as the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano pipeline crossing and expanded gas deals with Dangote Cement and Refinery, improved supply reliability and domestic gas utilisation.
NNPC also consolidated its 7.25% stake in Dangote Refinery, introduced governance reforms, and enhanced transparency, aiming to boost investor confidence and expand Nigeria’s oil and gas production capacity.
