Davis, a career US Foreign Service officer with over 30 years’ experience, will depart Kyiv and retire after serving as charge d’affaires since May 2025.
Her retirement comes amid a lull in US-brokered peace talks with Russia, and the State Department denies claims Davis is leaving due to frustration with President Trump’s Ukraine policy.
Davis has been a proponent of Trump administration peace efforts, following her predecessor Bridget Brink’s resignation over Ukraine policy disagreements, as Ukraine resists US pressure for territorial concessions in negotiations with Russia.
