The deal, signed in Dubrovnik by Croatian PM Andrej Plenkovic and Bosnia’s Borjana Kristo, involves U.S.-based AAFS Infrastructure and Energy as investor and developer, with investment potentially reaching $1.5 billion.
The pipeline will connect Bosnia to Croatia’s gas network and the Krk LNG terminal, aiming to reduce Russian energy dependency and strengthen regional energy security.
Bosnia currently relies almost entirely on Russian gas via Serbia and Bulgaria; the project is backed by U.S. officials and may affect Bosnia’s EU accession amid transparency concerns.
